Instructor Bio

Michael is a positive, energetic, fun-loving karate-ka with goals of deeper understandings in the Martial Arts and furthering karate for the next generation. Michael is proficient at modulating his teachings for both the young student starting out and higher lever students looking to further their journey in the arts. 

Michael started his journey in the martial arts in 2007 when he was 17 years old at the Isshinryu Karate Association of Harrisburg, lead by Bob Sprenkle Sensei and Patt Lipsett Senpai. In 2009, Michael met and started learning directly from O-Sensei Lindquist, until his passing in 2015.

Michael has been teaching since 2014, receiving his SanDan (3rd degree black belt) in 2021 with experience maintaining a dojo of 300+ students.

On May 25th 2023, Michael opened his own school, Kazoku Isan Dojo 家族遺産道場.

O-Sensei Lindquist was a huge influence on Michael as a practitioner, a teacher and as a gentleman. Michael opened his dojo to honor and continue the teachings and understanding learned from O-Sensei Lindquist. 

Just as O-Sensei Lindquist would say often in class, 

“It’s the doing and the sharing of the doing, that’s the essence of true value.”
